HOW TO PACKAGE HANDMADE SOAPS
| Packaging our handmade
soaps for resale can be just as creative as if you had made the soap
yourself. Choices in packaging lets you express your own tastes
and the look you want your company to convey to the public.
There are numerous style choices --- all good ones depending upon your
particular market: the rustic look, boutique style, upscale
salon, victorian, simplistic or gift packaged -- the possibilities are
endless. |

With the upsurge of the
scrapbooking industry, there are countless types of beautiful papers
for sale by the sheet or package.
With decorative paper, you could either
wrap the entire bar like you would a gift, use a small strip of the
decorative paper around your soap and attach together with your
company label or even use the specialty paper like a hang tag.
Get creative. Your packaging is an important marketing tool so take
your time to decide how you'd like to wrap your soaps.

| Plain paper, brown or even
butcher style can turn out being decorative with a little effort.
Wrap the bar in butcher paper just as you would a gift and tie off the
bar with twine or ribbon, preferably with your company label or
hangtag attached. For extra decor, get out your favorite stamps
and stamp pad to liven up the paper. Even the slightest hint of color
can add class to your soap packaging. |

Corrugated cardboard can
add wonderful texture when wrapped around a bar of soap.
However, keep in mind that if your soaps are meant to be stacked for
display that this method can make them a bit "wobbly".
Raffia or Sisal twine tied around your bar
of soap is another way to achieve that "rustic" look. Strips of
muslin or even muslin tie bags are other options as well.
